Meet author Carol Boston Weatherford, author of "Becoming Billie Holiday" which she will present as an enchanting fictional verse memoir. This unique interaction combines elements of the novel, biography, oral history, persona poem, and a one-woman show into a unique genre in a perfect artsy setting. The evening will reflect Billie Holiday's sassy, soulful and sophisticated style. Free.

This lively workshop presented by Gaye Adegbalola, co-founder of Saffire, the Uppity Blues Women. She traces the history of blues women from the 1920's to today - including Bessie Smith, Billie Holiday, Rosetta Tharpe, Big Mama Thornton, Etta Baker, Etta James and many others. A spirited discussion is sure to follow when Adegbalola is joined by panelists Eleanor Ellis (re-eminent female acoustic blues guitarist), Dwandalyn Reece (Curator of Music and Performing Arts Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of African American History and Culture), Inga Watkins (Attorney at Law/Mediator, Educator/Trainer) and Charisma Wooten (Mary's First Child, a. d., actor, vocalist and educator). Tickets required for a full day of live blues music!! $10.00 general admission, Headline Pass $20.00. Tickets may be purchased online or at the park on the day of event! Instead of looking for a good seat, choice seating is available prior to any Headline Event! You can purchase a Headline Pass for $20 that allows you to come to the event and be assured a seat. It also allows you to leave the event and return to your designated seat. . .

Passes may be purchased online and at Park entry (based on availability). Look for the Headline Event passes sign at the park or online. Passes will not be mailed.

You should arrive at least 10 minutes in advance to starting time, or the preferences become limited to the rear of the designated area. A spot will still be held for all Headline Pass Holders! Passes are transferable to another person, but not valid on any other event than the one purchased.

The park will open 30 minutes before start time. Exceptions will only be made for those with special needs (difficulty standing or a physical disability).

More than 50 businesses all over town will feature blues music, special blues programming, specials and discounts all weekend!

Cherry Hill Park is a Family-Friendly Zone. Only alcohol purchased on site is allowed and pets are not permitted.
